Caroline & Mike’s Vanderburgh 4H Wedding Video | Evansville, IN

Caroline never thought she would settle down, let alone settle down in her hometown of Evansville, Indiana.

With her job as a travel nurse and love of adventure, she found herself in places across the county like Hawaii, Colorado, and Florida. Then in some time back in Indiana, she matched with this guy named Mike. As Mike's brother roughly put it, "if Mike had not met Caroline, he would still have a mullet in the back of a Subaru with his 90's shades on.” The two were a perfect fit and started traveling the globe. Then on a mountaintop, as Mike promised, he asked for Caroline's hand in marriage.

I imagine they were a couple of clicks away from eloping on a mountaintop. Nevertheless, the day reflected their adventurous spirit plus their love of family. The rooms filled with people spanning the country, some drove up from Florida, and some took the red-eye to be here just for the day. Generations of Coughlin and Niemiers also filled the room.

When I met Caroline and Mike, I thought their film would be an ode to adventure. Their love of travel is infectious; just meeting them made me take a backpacking trip. But I didn't see adventure in the traditional sense. What I did notice was the fruits of adventure. A spirit of acceptance and love toward the present moment. The ability to laugh at oneself and not take things too seriously. An independent spirit that can love people as is not as we think or want them to be. And an appreciation for the most incredible adventure - this fragile life. For that reason I glad to have witnessed and documented their day.
