Chris & Megan’s Elopement in Glacier National Park
Here are five things to know about Chris & Megan’s Glacier National Park elopement.
#1 Where it all Happened
Chris and Megan eloped near Glacier National Park. Because of some time constraints, the ceremony happened in a picturesque park just outside Glacier. Some of the spots in the video include Lake McDonald, Big Bend, Logan Pass, and other nooks along the Going-to-the-Sun Road. The couple and their families stayed at Hidden Moose Lodge in the adorable town of Whitefish, MT. The lodging was around 30-40 minutes outside of Glacier National Park.
#2 The Help
Eloping in a national park (legally) is not as easy as it seems. If you showed up at the park to get married, you would most likely get denied. Or, if caught, you could receive a hefty fine. That's one reason why having a planner might be a good idea. Chris & Megan used the team at Elope Montana. They helped plan everything from the photographer to the officiant, makeup artists, and the cake. They know the area inside and out, ensuring you don't have any duds or problems on the day of. See all of the vendors below.
#3 An Elopement Experience
Chris & Megan made an experience out of the elopement. First, they invited their family members to come. Then they made the 15-hour road trip from Iowa stopping at Spearfish, SD, and Custer’s Last Stand in Big Horn County, MT (Little Big Horn River). In Whitefish, they took in all the town had to offer; the restaurants, community events, and local sites. The experience all led up to the big day.
#4 A Sacred Invitation
To be invited to an elopement is next-level trust. It's you, the couple, and some close family members in Chris & Megan's case. It's an exclusive group. Their closest friends? Not there. Aunts & uncles? Not there. Out of all of the people in their life, they've chosen you to be a witness. They chose me to provide a keepsake to show their friends, family, aunts, and uncles. It's an honor—a sacred invitation. One I don't take lightly.
#5 Trust
A strong relationship with your vendor fends off unwanted anxiety on your big day. Chris & Megan deserve major kudos for sharing their hearts with me to build that trust. We zoom'ed a couple of weeks before and instantly connected. They shared what mattered to them and the details of how they met. This directly influenced what and why I shot certain scenes. I recall how giddy they were for the adventure. It immediately filled me with that same giddiness. Plus, it filled me with ease and a desire to serve my new friends.
**Bonus - Rad Dad
Megan's father is one Rad Dad. Kelly would be on the short-list if there were a try-out for Rad-Dads. He is kind, caring, and makes timely dad jokes. His resume also includes naps on the porch, photos with a film camera and a love for his daughter and son-in-law that is so evident.
