“You are So Beautiful” | Emotional Father of the Bride Reaction | Downtown Vincennes, IN Wedding

The Couple

Bailey, as described by Jacob, is loving, thoughtful, and fun. Jacob, as described by Bailey, is supportive, organized, and caring. Both of them hold in their emotions, but they can't help but be overwhelmed by tears of gratitude during their wedding.

The Proposal

Jacob proposed at a family cookout. With their close knit family and a trusty dog named Cheif in appearance, Jacob popped the question. Bailey was in such disbelief she didn't even answer. Of course, her body language said an emphatic "YES!"

The Wedding

Jacob said, "There is time for everything" in our discovery meeting. (The call where we get to know each other) He was referencing the Ephesian's Bible verse and sharing their trust in God's plan. God's plan was a little different from Bailey and Jacobs. The wedding set for April 4th, 2020, was forced back due to the corona virus's emergence. It appeared that God had different plans, or maybe his schedule was full on the initial date.

Luckily, in June, the virus was virtually non-existent in Knox County. Thus the hot topic faded away, and family, friends, and love surfaced to the top. Three words helped decisions revolving around the day; family, friends, and love.

(Advice From Bailey) 175% book the videographer! I was so hesitant because it is pricey, but it truly captures every small moment of your day that you may forget once it's over.

Soak in every single minute of your wedding day because it truly flies by.

Bridal Party Prep & Reception Venue

The bridal party prepared and celebrated the wedding day at a newly renovated, medium-sized reception venue in downtown Vincennes called the Bankquet Hall. The venue houses a bridal suite for the ladies and a former vault for the guys to get ready in. The families joined together beneath the hall's chandeliers, winding staircase, and high ceilings to celebrate the night away. It was the perfect venue for their wedding size and made it very easy to decorate.

[Pro Tip: Having your venues close together can save a lot of time and frustration. Closer Proximity = More Family Time]

Ceremony Venue

The wedding ceremony was at a beautiful ornate Catholic Church in downtown Vincennes named St.Johns Catholic Church. The church furthered Bailey and Jacob's mission by providing a venue close to home with their local priest Father Tony to lead the mass. The church also had plenty of room for all the friends and family.

(Her Favorite Part of the Day) spending the entire day with those we love and care about deeply & celebrating the love for Jacob and me. It felt like a dream knowing that so many people showed up celebrating our special day with us.

On A Personal Note

The one thing I took away from their wedding was "family."

Both families were very close. Their brothers and sisters were some of their best friends. The emotions of this closeness and love were on full display throughout the day. Here are just a few examples.

  • The ceremony. It looked like there was a surplus of onions under all the pews because the tears were flowing.

  • The father reveal. There is something unflinchingly human about the relationship between a daughter and father. Bailey's father said three words when she saw her. These three words' spoken with tone and emotion said more than I could ever fit in a blog post. You. Look. Beautiful. Bailey and her father, Chris, brought me to tears repeatedly during the editing process.

  • Her Mothers Gift. Bailey's mother gifted her a bracelet with her late mother's fingerprints on it during the bride prep. It's the circle of life.

The Sievers and Wirth families reminded me of the value of tight-knit families. Even though Bailey and Jacob live a couple of hours away, they are still very close. In an age where the world encourages you to diminish the role of family and seek bigger and "better," Bailey and Jacob provided a shining example that the best gifts are right beside you.
